A Touching Tribute to the Mars Rover...

jtotheizzoe:

A Touching Tribute to the Mars Rover Curiosity

This short film by Dan Winters and Shervin Shaeri weaves together footage of the Mars Curiosity rover and commentary from NASA scientists to create a stunning tribute to our latest interplanetary explorer. It gave me goosebumps.

“You don’t get many chances to design your baby, to figure out what it’s supposed to do in its life. But I feel like we got a chance here.”

While NASA may not have actually made that historic discovery after all, we already have plenty to be proud of when it comes to this mission, and plenty more to come. Remember, there’s lots of cool things to find.

Next we agreed to pay freight on transportation to ports. Then we agreed to mill the grain and package it. The next thing [you know] we’ll be asked to cook it and serve it.”

“Within this thin wafer of bread is caught up symbolically the labor of plow and of sowing, of harvest and threshing, of milling, of packing, of transportation, of financing, of selling and packaging. Man’s industrial life is all there.”

“Transportation made sublimation literal. It conveyed evil to another world.”

“The mastery of the turn is the story of how aviation became practical as a means of transportation. It is the story of how the world became small.”

scanzen:
